Today, 90 percent of innovations within the automotive industry are based in the electrics/electronics sector (E/E). Current market trends are forcing the development of Car IT and pushing the automotive industry to face new challenges:
- Infotainment systems and consumer electronics (CE) are seeing rapid and diverse development. Customers expect wireless connectivity, for example the integration of Android and iOS smartphones in the driver area – which often is a workplace – via MirrorLink or CarPlay. A great challenge is presented here due to varying life and development cycles as well as safety and data protection aspects.
- Companies that set themselves apart from the competition are doing so more and more frequently by providing innovative comfort functions and driver assistance systems, in particular (partially) autonomous driving. Aside from the required multi-sensor fusion in this complex environment, the car must be increasingly connected with its environment (Car2x communication). Apps available in the vehicle (native or HTML5) and online services allow the driver to experience new customer functions in comfort and enhance the user experience, even in second hand vehicles (software as a product).
- New platform and module strategies require flexible vehicle architectures as well as hardware and software standards which allow comprehensive variant and requirement management in the E/E sector. In order to provide and validate increasingly distributed and highly integrated customer functions, also between Car IT, Consumer IT and Business IT components, approaches above and beyond AUTOSAR are required.
These innovations give rise to new demands regarding control and management processes in vehicle development and validation, and in production, quality assurance, and service. Software and hardware components as well as control devices, actuators and sensors are to be considered on a general level in the product structure and PLM processes.
Using our expertise as a foundation, we support you throughout the whole process of designing E/E processes (e.g. functional safety in accordance with ISO 26262, Automotive SPICE), E/E methods (e.g. model-based software development, continuous integration), and E/E systems for on-board and off-board IT solutions, particularly in our main areas of expertise:
- Software and data logistics
- Electrical system communication and data management
- Function orientation and E/E architectural design
- Connected vehicle (Car2x communication)
- Embedded software engineering
- (Infotainment) apps and mobile online services
- Car security
- Diagnosis and programming
- E/E tests and E/E validation
We help you realize your full potential for added value in the E/E sector and use our extensive experience to achieve seamless integration in your company processes.
