The conventional V-model XT is frequently associated with a "waterfall" process, in which a strict sequence of phases is observed. Away from public administration, agile process models such as Scrum or combinations of conventional and agile processes have become established. They enable flexible management of requirements and already supply the first results in early phases of the project.
In public administration, too, demand for agile methods is rapidly growing, without wishing to depart from V-model XT. We have therefore further developed V-model XT in order to make it more lightweight and agile in comparison to phase-oriented methods. It enables us to handle projects which demand a high degree of flexibility successfully, cost-effectively and in a manner tailored to customer's specific requirements, whilst at the same time retaining the tried and tested framework of V-model XT.
