The certified handbook simplifies the application of project management standards in day-to-day operations.
msg and TÜV Information Technology GmbH, TÜV NORD GROUP (TÜViT), have jointly created a method handbook for the Federal Institute for IT Service Providers (DLZ-IT) on how to implement IT projects. WEIT e.V. (The Association for Further Development of the V-Model XT) has, in their capacity as certifying body, acknowledged the conformity of the method handbook for the V-Model XT. For the first time, there is now a certified process description which simplifies the application of the V-Model XT for IT projects in the public sector. The task is part of a framework agreement for providing support for project, requirement and test management which was concluded between msg and TÜViT with the German Ministry for Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) last year.
Simplified implementation of IT projects
The V-Model XT is the standard process model for IT projects in public administration. The method handbook from DLZ-IT simplifies the implementation of such projects by providing a generic phase model, document templates which can be immediately utilized, best practice examples as well as defined descriptions for all processes from the initial project idea through to implementation. In this, the main focal point lies on the processes on the client’s side such as project planning and project controlling as well as requirement, test and supply management. The handbook can be utilized by all areas and departments in the public sector. It pays particular attention to the conceptual idea of the V-Model XT although it can also be transferred to, and implemented in, other projects e.g. customized developments or SAP projects.
WEIT e.V., which is coordinating the ongoing development and management of the V-Model XT, has – in its capacity as certifying body – acknowledged the conformity of the method handbook for the V-Model XT.
“The newly created method handbook allows us to simplify the application of the V-Model XT to our IT projects“, states Dr. Mike Rösler, Project Manager (PMO) at DLZ-IT.
“We are very pleased to be able to supply the public sector with a handbook which provides an easily comprehensible, methodical framework for the implementation of IT projects“, says Jürgen Fritsche, Head of Division Public Sector at msg. “The method handbook facilitates the consideration of organization-specific demands. The clearly defined descriptions for the important processes fully comply with the conformity requirements for V-Model XT implementations”, states Antonius Sommer, Managing Director at TÜViT.
