What is your main task?

Hi, my name is Marcel and I've been working as a project manager at msg since October 2020. My main task is to manage IT projects (e.g. cloud migrations or software rollouts) with a focus on the telecommunications industry. I am primarily responsible for planning and managing the individual activities of my team, taking deadlines and costs into account. My day-to-day work involves numerous consultations with the customer and other external service providers in order to achieve the desired result. I find the challenges that arise from the international and intercultural project team particularly exciting in my customer environment.

What do you particularly like about your work?

What I particularly appreciate about my work is the strong collegial cohesion within the team and the numerous challenges that I face every day with my colleagues and that allow me to grow. At msg, I was given a lot of responsibility and freedom in my work from day one and always had the opportunity to contribute my own ideas and approaches.

What personal items can be found on your desk?

There has always been a stock market bull on my desk. I've been fascinated by numbers for as long as I can remember, which is why I like to spend my free time working on the financial market.

What is your main task?

Hello, my name is Christina and I have been working as a project manager at msg since June 2020. My main task as a project manager is to bring customer projects to a successful conclusion. I am currently supporting a mobile network provider with the expansion of its network and, in addition to the classic PMO tasks in my sub-project, I am also responsible for reporting and escalation tasks in the overall project. I also advise the customer on how they can further improve their project management.

What makes your team unique for you?

Although our team has grown significantly since I joined msg and now comprises 20 people, I love the wonderful family atmosphere that we have retained. We help each other and support each other not only with problems and challenges, but also with further development and growth. I really appreciate the fact that our team includes many young employees, but also older colleagues, and that both sides benefit from each other and see diversity as an added value rather than a problem. Our team also has a relatively high proportion of women, which makes us a good example of diversity at msg.

Is there a sport that you can no longer do without?

After discovering ballet three years ago, I can no longer do without dancing and enjoy every lesson. Everyone is probably familiar with the typical image of a ballerina, where you think of splits and pointe work. However, this sport is much more than just that. In addition to muscle strength, coordination and stamina, you also need good concentration and discipline, which in turn also benefit me in my job.

What is your main task?

I currently have two parallel projects:

  1. I test Java applications under Linux that are programmed by an external company. These Java applications will later be used by a large telecommunications provider, for example, to test customers' Internet connections and identify problems and faults. To do this, I like to use automated tests that are created with the help of Robotframework.
  2. I configure and test Java software under Linux for a large telecommunications provider, which is needed to authenticate and authorize millions of Internet subscribers in fixed and mobile networks.

How did you come to msg?

Some colleagues from my previous employer had already switched to msg. It was on their recommendation that I decided to do the same.

What was your first computer and what operating system did it have?

A Commodore 64 with an internal operating system and a datasette. The datasette was used to read in programs from music cassettes.
