Innovative software products and a family atmosphere
Since opening in October 1998 with six employees, the msg location in Passau has grown steadily to over 600 employees. As the second-largest private-sector employer in the city and the largest software employer in Lower Bavaria, we offer our employees the job security and advantages of a “large medium-sized company”. At the same time, we cultivate a family atmosphere in our teams and the “spirit of Passau”.
The Passau location focuses on product and project development for the Insurance, Food, Banking snd Public Sector. The developments are carried out in several different msg group companies. In addition, various central departments, such as Administration & Finance, are located at the Passau site.
In Passau, innovative solutions are not only created on the computer, but also in teamwork. This means communicative exchange, networking and interaction – here we support and use design methods such as Scrum and Kanban. In order to meet the changing, growing challenges of IT, the further training and development of our employees is not just lip service for us, but a location strategy.
A relaxed, familiar and friendly atmosphere is very important to us. We treat each other as equals and work together in a helpful and honest way.
Training at msg | Passau
Training is an important topic for us. We have been providing training in Passau very successfully since 1999, placing particular emphasis on a modern training concept – in both commercial and IT occupations. We work together with various vocational schools. We also maintain close ties with the University of Passau and operate our own software lab at the Deggendorf Institute of Technology (THD).
Modern working environment: comfortable offices and an inviting roof terrace
Our offices are comfortable and offer a pleasant working atmosphere. Since mid-2020, we have gradually converted many rooms into modern working environments. Another major new milestone was the move into our new building in December 2022. This enables us to provide modern, mobile working for our employees now and in the future.
A spacious training and meeting center is available for internal and external meetings. During lunch breaks, we either take advantage of the wide range of options in the in-house bistro or the employee kitchen for self-catering.
Our WorkCafe also offers you the opportunity for a small coffee break with a variety of hot drinks and snacks. With a spectacular view over Passau, our roof terrace can be used for departmental and team events in summer.
The best IT infrastructure thanks to the IT Service Lounge and IT accessory vending machine
In March 2018, a modern and attractive service area – the IT Service Lounge – was opened for the employees at the location. All colleagues on site receive first-class personal support from our Corporate IT and can also test and try out new IT hardware themselves.
In addition, the IT accessories vending machine in the service area ensures that “long” waits for an IT accessories order are a thing of the past. You can get IT accessories quickly and easily from the vending machine, such as keyboards, headphones or charging cables.
Live and work where others vacation
What we Passau residents appreciate most are the relaxed work atmosphere, the good collegial relationships and the many leisure activities we do together, such as in the msg football team, the msg running group or climbing. We also traditionally celebrate a big family festival in the summer and bring the year to an atmospheric close with our Christmas party in December.
Our office building is conveniently located near the confluence of the Danube, Inn and Ilz rivers, close to the city center, the main train station and the bus terminal. The university city of Passau is considered a cultural center and looks back on 2,000 years of history.
Passau is an international hub in the tri-border region of Germany, the Czech Republic and Austria, and is well connected to the major European economic centers. The University of Passau advertises “Study where others go on vacation!” So it makes sense to also “work where others go on vacation!”
Award for students of the University of Passau
msg supports outstanding students in the master's program in computer science at the University of Passau. Two prizes of €1,800 each are awarded. The winners are selected by the head of the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Passau. In addition to excellent academic performance, at least 60 ECTS points already earned are required for a successful application. The financial support is paid out in two stages – at the beginning and end of the winter semester – provided that the course of study has not been discontinued during this time.
