The SAP BTP (formerly SAP Cloud Platform) consists of four technology portfolios:

• The Free Tier as an "appetiser" to try out services for free
• A pay-as-you-go model, where you are billed based on the services you choose.
• The Cloud Platform Enterprise Agreement (CPEA) as a so-called "prepaid" tariff, through which a credit balance of cloud credits can be purchased for free use.
• Subscription-based licensing, in which, in contrast to the consumption-based models, a package of services is put together that can then be used at a fixed price and for a fixed term.

As a PaaS offering, SAP BTP is available on Microsoft™ Azure™, AWS™, Google Cloud™ and Alibaba Cloud™ in exclusively secure and certified environments. The clear focus of the BTP is on the customers' business processes. The integration aspect goes beyond company boundaries in order to provide end-2-end solutions for entire process chains. This sets SAP BTP apart from the cloud offerings of other hyperscalers.

Existing SAP system landscapes - be it R/3 or already S/4HANA - can be expanded in an uncomplicated way with SAP BTP and modern applications can be integrated. Thanks to SAP BTP, these applications can be made available externally as well as mobile and thus profitably integrated into existing value chains.

By decoupling from the core of the SAP system, the advantages of bimodal IT can be derived by significantly shortening the time between a functional requirement and the generation of value after implementation.

The elasticity of SAP BTP enables scaling through which peak workloads can be absorbed. This makes it possible to relieve the burden on the company's internal IT infrastructure.

When using the S/4HANA Cloud (Public) solution, major extensions and integrations can only be realised via the SAP BTP.
